Adult Education Coordinator
SUMMARY
The Adult Education Coordinator provides advising, instruction, assessment and planning services to adult education students and the program director.

The Adult Education Coordinator provides advising, instruction, assessment and planning services to adult education students and the program director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provides comprehensive academic services needed to help adult education (AE) students set and achieve appropriate academic goals
- Instructs AE classes as needed (in-person and/or remote service)
- Manages AE distance learning program for a four county district using D2L (Desire2Learn), online homework programs, and Zoom
- Implements College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) across the curriculum
- Maintains and stays abreast of new teaching technologies to improve the AE classroom experience
- Utilizes appropriate technologies in the AE classroom
- Experience with pedagogical and andragogy methods and practices
- Is proficient working with students at multiple academic levels
- Blends digital literacy skills and use of online resources into instruction
- Uses technology to communicate with student and staff and collect feedback
- Maintains consistent, accurate, and timely records for student and program data
- Follows state and program-mandated reporting procedures
- Coordinates AE/ESL students to align their skills with Career Technical Education (CTE) programs
- Provides advising and wrap-around services, maintaining relationships with community partners to support student needs
- Develops and monitors student success plans and coaches students accordingly
- Assists students in meeting the academic and career development skills which relate to academic success
- Assists with the development and periodic review of curriculum.
- Presents information regarding Adult Education to prospective students, resources, and the community
- Networks with FVCC staff, administration, and advisors to improve the effectiveness of the AE program and increase the success of transition students
- Maintains records, prepares reports, and assists with the preparation of grant applications and performance reports
- Attends relevant local, state and/or regional trainings and conferences
- Reports to the Director of Adult Education
- Performs other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in closely related field AND three years of related experience
- State teaching licensure
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in related field AND one year of related experience
- Experience with individualized instruction at the post-secondary level
- Experience with Adult Education
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability and willingness to serve as a representative for the College by interacting appropriately with the community
- Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC
- Ability to intermittently work non-traditional schedules including evenings, weekends, etc.
- Ability to maintain effective and positive professional relationships
- Ability to follow and issue directions
- Demonstrated communication, technology, presentation, customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds
- Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check
- Ability to respond in the event of an emergency
- This is a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
